What We Believe

The Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living (SFCSL) is an inclusive spiritual community celebrating all life as the expression of the One Divine Source, striving to live the Science of Mind as postulated by Dr. Ernest Holmes.

The Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living Believes . . .

. . .  in Joy as the infallible sign of the presence of God; and the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow.
. . .  in the spiritual power within each of us and that we can use this power to reveal and heal false conditions and beliefs in our lives.
. . .  in providing inspiration and tools for understanding and using our individual spiritual nature.
. . .  in welcoming all spiritual seekers to our Center.
. . .  in the support and prosperity of our  Center through the gifts of time, treasure and talent of all who attend.
. . . in changing our world, one thought at a time.

The Science of Mind is not a religion, but a philosophy and a technique, and though it has no rules or dogma, it does include a series of principles that assist in one’s life journey. It encourages the individual to develop a personal relationship with the Divine, and to understand that the relationship is reciprocal. This means that the more intimate our connection with God, the greater will be Its influence in, and as us.

This is accomplished through the study of the philosophy and the practice of affirmative prayer, also called spiritual mind treatment. The former explains the creative presence of the Universe in the individual’s thinking and feeling. The latter encourages the practice of this creative process through the use of a loving Law that is always willing to respond to our highest good. We embrace the Oneness of the Universe through the attraction of Love within us.

A Spiritual Fellowship & Community

csl-symbol-2Though the practice of Science of Mind can certainly be accomplished privately, and many do so, we have chosen to form a community that is supportive and caring during one’s life’s journey. To accomplish this, we have a minister who is the spiritual leader of the community and trains lay counselors who are also available to teach and pray. The community’s volunteers provide leadership and take responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the community’s secular needs.

Our motto, “Remembering Spirit…Reminding each other,” adequately describes our belief: We are all the presence of Spirit, and a simple reminder of that Truth is sufficient to restore peace and serenity. Simultaneously, we must be responsible to each other whenever in need, which only requires the reminder –God is all there is.

Quotes from Dr. Ernest Holmes

“The Power behind all things is without limit, but in working for us It must work through us.  Realizing, then, that while the Power is limitless, It must become operative through our own thought, we shall see that what we need is not some greater power, but a greater consciousness, a deeper realization of life, a more sublime concept of Being, a more intimate concept of an already indwelling God, Who is personal to us by virtue of being personified through us.”

“Identify yourself with that One in everyone you meet; know that everyone you meet is just a little different expression of that One, and meet them as that One, and you will meet yourself in that One.”

“Gradually, by identifying ourselves with love, happiness, friendship and harmony, our thought patterns change, and then we will encounter only situations which are like them, no matter where we go or whom we may meet. Emerson says it this way:  ‘The only way to have a friend is to be one.’”
