This Was the Year That Was
by Rev. Duchess Dale
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
Have you noticed that television and almost everything we read in a Facebook post, Tweet or even this magazine has had repeated references to the trials and tribulations that have taken place this year? Even the most recent headlines have only added to the collective angst.
We know this has been a challenging year that has called each of us to do deeper work towards healing the collective PTSD of our nation. Countless numbers of us apply much of our spiritual practice toward this very goal for ourselves and for others. And… as I spiritually prepare myself for a brand, new year, I prefer to not end this year with a giant “coulda–woulda –shoulda” boulder on my shoulder.
This is the only December, 2017 we will have. It is the season of Light as we share so many Holy days together. My intention is to find my way back to both the sweetness and the power of this time of year.
Will you join me in shifting attention from the headlines, or from the “how could all this have happened?” and instead, place your attention on your heart. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18-20. In the midst of your heart is the pure essence of who you truly are. Together, let’s do our contemplations and prayers from this place; and then let peace begin with me as it permeates the planet.
December’s grace fills my mind, heart and soul. I celebrate the Light that is within me. Oh Holy, Holy now. Amen. Amen. Ahhhhhhmen.
