Life is About Expression by Charles Hall

Life is about expression. We are all given a life to do with what we want. Far too many people limit themselves and their expressions to the influence and determination of outside forces. Far too many people feel stress, anxiety, and varying degrees of depression because they do not give themselves the freedom of living THEIR LIFE.

By earnestly practicing the process outlined below, you can harness your creative genius and build a life based on the expression of YOUR INSPIRATION.

1) NOTICE. APPRECIATE. UNDERSTAND.

There is something that animates life that is greater than any of us. It is creativity itself. It is the spark. Something had to light the stars! Ponder for a moment the vastness of even the solar system in which we live. Millions of light years between planets and stars. Energy and light. It is the grandest expression of possibility and expanse. It has been proclaimed by philosophers and studied by scientists…we are an expression of this energy. And the greatest expression of life that we know of is love. Love binds us together and inspires us to extraordinary humanity.

Practice: Think of someone you love. Close your eyes and feel the love present when you are with them. Allow the feeling to overcome you. Now just be with the feeling independent of your loved one. Be in the feeling without the person. THIS is to NOTICE, UNDERSTAND, and APPRECIATE where we come from.

2) MERGE. ALIGN. CONNECT.

Life never created junk. Because you are alive you are born from endless possibility. Can you be bold enough to radiate like the sun,boldly and without shame? Can you be an instrument of creativity itself? Know that you are! You are because life intended you to be. Know that you are hereon purpose, because you wouldn’t be if it weren’t so.

Practice:Consider the sun does not shine when it feels good and hide when it feels bad.It simply shines. Though we experience life’s joys and hardships, we exist because we are meant to. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Recall the last time you felt the warmth of the sun and basked in its glow. Feel it. This is you! Here to express your love and warmth no matter what!

3) AWAKE. MINDFUL. CONSCIOUS.

Because you are meant to be here, and meant to live fully expressed, INTEND to create your life…your day…this moment. What do you consciously intend to experience right now, today. Be aware that you are the paintbrush that generates a masterpiece through your living. At the end of the day, what will you step back and behold that you created through the power of your intention and commitment? Control what you can, and focus on that only.

Practice: Consider the experience you want to have in any moment, for any day. Consider they type of life you want to live overall. What values do you desire to express? What qualities of do you want to espouse? Write them down and create an affirmative statement that reflects this intention. For example: “I am inspired and powerfully equipped, igniting the lives of those around me while feeling fulfilled and at peace.” Put this affirmative statement in conspicuous places so you are reminded of it many times a day. Create as many statements as you want for different areas of your life.

The ingredients for your statement are as follows. It must be: Personal (language that resonates with you), Powerful (it ignites and inspires you), Present-tense (set in the “now” so you readily claim it) and Positive (only affirmative language).

4) GRATITUDE.

Gratitude is an extremely strong feeling that has more power than just about any other feeling (except love). Because it is so powerful, it has mass. Things with greater mass have a greater gravitational pull. Gratitude has a TREMENDOUS gravitational pull. Gratitude, coupled with your affirmative statements, begin to inform your new reality. Expressing gratitude for the wonderful things in your life welcomes more of it. Also, preemptive gratitude begins to welcome into your life things you can’t even see yet. Try it!

Practice 1: Example:Even though you have no evidence that you have order (insert desired experience here) in your life, begin to feel gratitude for order. Watch what happens! It’s not magic but it may feel like it. When you feel gratitude for order, you are putting your attention on an orderly life. Then you will start making choices and take actions that reflect order.

Practice part 2: After you declare your affirmative statements as noted above, feel gratitude for that statement. Feel gratitude for this being your reality. Always couple your affirmative statement with gratitude! Gratitude for what is unseen but for which your desire to demonstrate informs your choices and actions.

***Note:if you are having trouble mustering up gratitude in the moment, think back to a time when you felt gratitude. Perhaps someone bought you lunch, or treated you to a movie. Maybe someone paid you a compliment. Close your eyes and feel that experience. Now, notice that you aren’t feeling gratitude in the past, you are feeling it right now. Now, simply couple it with your preemptive gratitude or your affirmative statement.

5) FREEDOM. LIBERATION. RELIEF.

Let go of EVERYTHING you cannot control and trust that your intention, desire, and feelings of gratitude are what paint your experience. Discipline your brain and your heart to stay focused on what you can control, your intention, and your actions based on that intention, and forget everything else. Now, it is time to walk it out. Act intentionally and estimably.

Practice: Make a list of all the things in your life that you may want to control but can’t.Take some time with this. Be thorough. You cannot control the mood or behavior of others. You cannot control the weather. Once you’ve made your list, make a copy of it. Burn one as a symbolic gesture of letting go. Keep one, as a reminder.

Cheers to your new-found vitality and freedom! Admire and be grateful for the beautiful life you are creating. You are worth it.
